North Adams is a scrappy little city with a really big heart. We have seen our ups and downs but continue to fight for the American Dream as we look to retain our heritage and push forward into the new economy as a thriving hub of life in the Berkshire hills. We are a city of makers. Makers in industry, makers of lives, makers of art, and makers of something bigger than ourselves. Our Main Street offers up so much potential. Its historic facades, annual festivals, unique businesses and opportunities for growth make it an incredible place to visit and engage with. Our past struggles show what we continue to work to overcome, with half of our main street lost to urban renewal half a century ago. Now we work to embrace what architecture we still have, and find creative, artistic, and unique ways to adapt those buildings to the needs of a contemporary era. In a major city, $25,000 might make a small dent in the goals and aspirations of a main street, but here in North Adams we will maximize the impact through our vibrant community of caring and committed residents to help forge towards a brighter future for our NAMAzing little city.
