St. John, WA is a small town with a huge heart! We are a farming community of less than 600 proud people. When many small towns around us were drying up, we braced ourselves and worked together to stay afloat. However, we want to do more than simply stay afloat, we want to thrive! A healthy main street is the key to keeping a small town like ours alive. Each small business owner works hard to keep their business alive, and their space on main street looking good. Each community member works hard to support these small businesses, knowing how very important they are. We see a decent amount of tourism pass through our town due to our community funded golf course, a nearby lake, our semiannual boat races, and being on a scenic highway drive. Unfortunately, it is very easy for people to simply pass by our main street. Our town is a little tired looking and does not reflect the inviting, proud attitude of our community. Receiving funding would help us create that welcoming aesthetic, to not only get those passers-by to stop, but to encourage people to seek our town out. It would be an injection of energy and community spirit for our town, and for all of the main street events hosted throughout the year. Everyone here works together to keep things getting better rather than worse. When insurance threatened to pull out our old park equipment two years ago, our town pulled together and raised $70,000 for improvements! It was more than we ever could have expected from such a small community! However, we have exhausted the generous community members and small businesses, so when it comes to our main street, we need your help. Thank you!
