Nestled on top of the Mississippi River bluffs, Belleville, Illinois continues to be the gateway to Southern Illinois. Our downtown's historic character provides a charming backdrop to our unique boutiques and restaurants. The adjacent neighborhoods and growing loft community provides residential living within walking distance of all we offer. And everything comes alive under the lights at night! With an emphasis on community events, beautification projects, and small business support, the Belleville Main Street Committee works to make Belleville a lively home and destination location. Belleville Main Street sponsored events include the Craft Beer Walk, Art & Wine Walk, and Lucky Leprechaun 5K. We also welcome events sponsored by other organizations such as the Chili Cook-off, Brew n Que, Belleville Marathon, Christkindlmarkt, Oktoberfest and the #1 art fair in the Nation: Art on the Square. Recognizing our farming roots, we host the Old Town Farmers' Market which provides local seasonal vegetables from May through November. Belleville Main Street promotes the small businesses in the community attracting locals and visitors alike. Events like a monthly Ladies' Nights Out, the Spring and Fall Open Houses, Sidewalk Sale, and Shop Local for Schools encourage people to engage with and support our local restaurants and shops. Our most recent campaign, "I Love Belleville", rewards those who shop small and local. We pride ourselves on the Mom and Pop shops in business for generations as well as the newer businesses offering fresh alternatives to big chain stores. The variety of shopping offered by our retailers checks off every person's list. Once someone shops till they've dropped, they can fortify themselves at any of our unique and independent restaurants. Our community is brimming with dining, shopping, services and entertainment. We encourage you to join us in discovering and appreciating our historic, vibrant, and beautiful Downtown Belleville!
