The city of Canyon, TX was the home of the vacant court house of Randall County and the businesses were closing and the square had 10-15 cars during the day and none at night 6 years ago. The city commission, community leaders, property owners and business owners made a commitment to return the square to a thriving, tax generating downtown district. The CEDC helped fund building renovations, rent share and employee hiring incentives to make it the hot spot in town to locate. We now have 3 restaurants with 3 more in the works, a coffee shop, hardware store, cake company and numerous boutiques and home decor stores. Parking has become an issue not only during the day, but also at night. A new 10,000 sqft building is under construction to hold more businesses along with an 84 space parking lot. This community should be recognized for its commitment to survive instead of die like so many small towns have. Please go to Google Maps and view our square 5 yrs ago, and then come see what it looks like today. We are 50% of the way through our revitalization, and continue to move forward. Thank You for your consideration.
