Carnegie has a wonderful, charming main street that hosts fun, local events including the Carnegie Crawl from May to October. This event is held on the 2nd Friday of every month and gives families and friends a chance to enjoy all that downtown has to offer. Carnegie was founded in 1894 when two smaller towns, Chartiers and Mansfield separated by Chartiers Creek, merged to become Carnegie. This was to honor Andrew Carnegie who endowed the town with both the stately Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall that still overlooks the downtown today and the Carnegie High School. Carnegie has come along way from the struggles of competition with local malls and then a devastating flood in 2004. Now we are in competition with every other small town in and around Pittsburgh and could really use help with streetscape lighting. We have a unique problem with electrical wiring that needs moved so we can bring in better, more modern lighting fixtures. This is a costly venture and the $25,000 would go along way to make this possible. With your vote, Carnegie can be a better and safer place for all residents and visitors alike.
