In 2011 Downtown Denville was nearly destroyed by massive flooding from our local river as the result of Hurricane Irene. The damage from the storm just depleted the town further as it was already suffering from over 20 empty stores, rundown streets and overall blight. Many thought the flood officially marked the end of Denville. However, the spirit of the town was unstoppable. Residents, store owners, volunteers, officials and more rallied to the fullest to raise money, clean-up and rebuild. Within a few short years the town now shows the promise and potential of returning to greatness again. However, the store owners and residents vow to never forget how important it is support those around us as we grow. While we continue to create events and promotional attractions to our town they always contain a charity element. Its not uncommon to see the entire town awash with pink ribbons and flags in October recognizing breast cancer awareness month or puzzle pieces in April for Autism. The staple of the town's commerce always involves giving back. Our downtown is great for shopping, eating and more but most importantly it's where a community comes together. You can view a taste of how this town supports others in a recent video from our Centennial year a few years back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0wDodl3Akg
