Beardstown, Illinois is a diverse community nestled along the Illinois River in Cass County. We are rich in history as we are home to the only courtroom in the United States that President Abraham Lincoln practiced in that is still being used as a courtroom today! Like any other small rural community, we have seen the demise of our downtown area. Beardstown has seen an upturn in businesses the past 2 years and would like to see the trend continue. We house multiple small businesses around our downtown including restaurants, retail, office and bars. Our town is home to 33 different languages, so diversity is huge part of what makes Beardstown the town to choose. Our long term goal is to bring back the integrity of home town, rural living. Our buildings are in desperate need of restoration! With economic support from a local company we have been able to "spruce" up the gazebo, sound system and fountain, but there is still so much that is needed. Our community is full of dedicated individuals who want Beardstown to be a destination for visitors year round.
